What is my net worth and why does it matter?

Your net worth is broadly what you own minus what you owe. It can include cash, savings, investments, pensions and property, less mortgages, loans, credit cards and other debts. It is one way of seeing your financial position, not a measure of your personal worth.

Income tells part of your story. Net worth gives you another view by showing the relationship between what you own and what you owe.

Your income tells part of your story. Your net worth tells another part. The bigger question is what you're building.
